One-car accident leaves road closed for several hours

A SINGLE-vehicle accident resulted in a busy roadway being closed for several hours.

The accident took place at the intersection of Gatton Clifton and Gatton-Helidon Road a Lower Tenthill, and was reported about 5pm yesterday afternoon.

Preliminary information suggests the vehicle, a Honda CR-V, was travelling along Gatton Clifton Road around 4.45pm when it lost control and crashed in a dry creek bed.

Paramedics attempted to treat the driver, a 20-year-old Toowong man, but he was declared deceased at the scene.

Police were also in attendance, diverting traffic away from the area.

The road remained closed until almost 9:50pm.

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.
