Old boys poised to roll on

AS YOUNG aspiring footballers look forward to the endless possibilities a new footy season brings, the Ipswich Old Boys keep doing what they do best.

That is, running their critical eye over the new lot and remembering the bygone days, when you could be picked for Australia from Ipswich club footy and the likes of Allan Langer and the Walters boys set the game alight.

Then there is the annual Old Boys Association Jack Brown-Des Green Memorial Lawn Bowls Day.

The bowls day is on Sunday at Swifts Sports Club from 8.30am and everyone is welcome.

There are prizes available for all competitors with the Jack Brown-Des Green Memorial Trophy on the line for the winning foursome.

There is also a raffle, barbecue and drinks available for a small entry price and plenty of happy banter between former and current Ipswich Rugby League players, club officials and referees.

For more information, contact Bob Christison on 3201 6814, Des Taege on 3281 0441 or John Hertrich on 3202 2332.
