Nice guy flying high in tourism
PTERODACTYL Helicopters owner Captain Mike Jarvis is doing great things in the world of tourism and his success flows on to other operators in the region (see today's p7 story).
It's no surprise to hear that Captain Mike prides himself on good customer service.
I have had the pleasure of knowing him for a few years now and I can vouch for the fact that he's always willing to help in times of crisis.
When the floods hit in 2011, I had to call on Captain Mike to pick up our chief photographer Rob Williams, who was stranded on the other side of the Bremer River at One Mile.
Without hesitation and at a moment's notice, Captain Mike hopped in the chopper and landed on the local sporting field to pick up our main snapper. Captain Mike then spent a significant amount of time flying Rob over the worst-hit areas so that we could get some aerial photos showing the massive scale of the damage.
Back to the business side of things, Pterodactyl Helicopters is helping shine a spotlight on Ipswich's untapped tourism potential.
Captain's Mike's success can only be a good thing for the region.
