New voices on 94.9 after duo departs
THE Breakfast Club is no longer just the title of a classic 1980s coming-of- age film.
It is now also the name of the River 94.9 radio team set to host the Ipswich-based station's new breakfast show.
For the past month, River 94.9 listeners have been waiting to see who would take over the early morning slot, after its regular announcers Ruby Slipperz and Dave Greensmith left suddenly.
The Ruby and Dave show, which ran from 5am to 9am each weekday since 2009, suddenly ended last month.
It was later announced by River 94.9's general manager David Greenwood that the duo would not be returning and that a new breakfast line-up would soon be announced.
Listeners will get their first taste of the new line-up, called The Breakfast Club, on Monday when hosts Mike Byrne and Marnie T team up with familiar voices Graham "Snowy" Snow and Tania Scherf.
Byrne was previously River 94.9's program director before he moved to host the breakfast show on Sydney's Mix1065.
And listeners will be familiar with Marnie T, who had recently been hosting the 9am to 1pm show on River. She said she hoped the new show would bring a smile to listeners' faces each morning with entertaining and informing content.
Mr Greenwood said an extensive search was conducted to find the best possible mix of personalities to entertain, inform and become part of the station's loyal listeners' mornings.
