New MRI unit for city

IPSWICH has its second MRI machine, with the official opening of the Exact Advanced Imaging at the UQ Ipswich campus this week.

The private health-care clinic has been accepting patients since April and is bringing the latest medical technology to Ipswich.

The clinic includes nuclear medicine, CT, SPEC CT, ultrasound, x-ray facilities and pain management procedures.

Radiologist and Exact Radiology partner Dr Peter Dunn said patients would no longer need to travel to Brisbane for such important procedures.

"The opening night allowed referrers and university staff the opportunity to see first-hand the latest diagnostic equipment available," he said. "This significantly alleviates the strain on local resources and further adds to those that were not previously available in Ipswich."
