New curriculum chief appointed to national body

A FORMER Vice-Chancellor at three universities will head the nation's top curriculum authority, Education Minister Christopher Pyne announced yesterday.

Mr Pyne appointed Emeritus Professor Steven Schwartz to lead the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority as well as four other new board members.

He will join former education department public servants from all states and territories except Queensland on the authority's board.

Prof Schwartz leads the Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
