'New Blue a certain starter'

BLUES prop Tim Grant has allayed fears he may miss Origin II, with assistant coach Trent Barrett declaring the Penrith star will be fit to play tonight.

Grant sent a scare through the NSW camp last Sunday when he left training early to receive treatment for a hamstring complaint, but Blues bosses said it was just a precautionary measure.

"Tim Grant looks really good at the moment, so everything's going well," Barrett said.

Barrett believes Grant's inclusion for his debut Origin will give his side more attacking potency up the middle of the park.

"Just having (James) Tamou, (Paul) Gallen and Timmy Grant to start the game will help (Robbie) Farah, (Todd) Carney and Mitchell Pearce with our go-forward," he said.

Barrett denied Blues head coach Ricky Stuart was a man under pressure. Speculation continues about Stuart wanting to coach an NRL club next year.

"It hasn't been in our thinking ... we've got to win and what Ricky decides to do after this series is up to him," Barrett said.
