Neumann sticks up for families in Ipswich
BLAIR MP Shayne Neumann has vowed to fight against cuts to family tax benefits and to any increases in the GST.
Mr Neumann said the ALP would oppose proposed Turnbull Government cuts to Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part B payments for local single parents and grandparent carers, and cuts to family supplements.
The Blair MP said a single parent family in Ipswich "with a couple of kids in high school could be more than $4,700 a year worse off" because of plans to cut family tax benefits and the schoolkids bonus.
He added that "cuts to Family Tax Benefit Part A supplements would leave 14,715 families in Blair hundreds of dollars a year worse off" and cuts to FTB-B Supplement would "also hit around 13,041 families in Blair".
"Working couples on low and middle incomes with two kids in high school will be around $2,600 a year worse off because of cuts to the schoolkids bonus and FTB supplements," he said.
Mr Neumann added that an increase in the GST would "hurt every family in Blair".
He said Ipswich families could voice their opinions on policy at www.givefamiliesafairgo.org
