Neumann claims win in benefit backdown

BLAIR MP Shayne Neumann is claiming a big win for Ipswich families following the Federal Government back down on cuts to Family Tax Benefits.

"This is a big win for families in Ipswich and the Somerset region," Mr Neumann said yesterday.

"Around 14,715 families in Blair have been spared a freeze to their Family Tax Benefit rates, and freezes to eligibility thresholds thanks to Labor's relentless fight against these cuts.

"I know that many of these families were very worried about the impact these cuts would have on their household budget. That is why I fought so hard against them."

Despite the good news, Mr Neumann warned there could be pain to come, with concerns that Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will impose a new round of cuts.
