NBN rollout in Ipswich begins

THE fibre optics to connect more than 50,000 Ipswich homes to the NBN will start being installed from Sunday.

The construction of the fibre network required for the NBN will begin on Sunday with further construction progressively until June 2015.

Federal Labor member for Blair Shayne Neumann said more than 50,000 Ipswich homes would be connected to the network when it is completed.

The construction of the fibre optic network is already underway for 8,400 homes and businesses in Collingwood Park and Redbank Plains.

Mr Neumann said the construction of the NBN would work its way west through Ipswich.
