National honours for young goalkeeper

BUNDAMBA State Secondary College has a new star.

Kaine Carter, 15 has humbly let his extraordinary achievements slip under the radar, until now.

It is not well known that this young soccer player, who enjoys athletics and time with friends, is in fact the goalkeeper for both the Queensland and Australian futsal teams.

Kaine began his journey with BSSC's under 15s futsal team which represented the school at the Viking's futsal competition where he was selected and went on to compete for a place in the Queensland team.

His streak of success continued through each level of competition, and he will now go on to represent the Australia in the sport.

Kaine said he had to go through a lot of sweat to get to where he was.

He says he owes his success to his own school team who had supported him with regular and intense training as well as providing substantial encouragement.

Kaine will be representing Australia in Greece from October 12 to 29.

The trip will cost him several thousand dollars, however Kaine hopes to secure financial assistance from the school or other willing organisations.

For Kaine, the future holds plenty of soccer and futsal.

Not only will he trial for the teams again next year but he hopes to establish a career in one of the sports.
