TOOWOOMBA mother Stacey Metzroth never expected she'd be the one in need of a rescue chopper.

The former CareFlight patient shared her compelling story at the RACQ Club CareFlight business breakfast, an event aimed at sharing the organisation's life-saving work, missions and current projects with community members and rallying local support.

"We were out at Gap Creek near Warwick and I hit a bump on a four-wheeler, it did four somersaults and I did five," she said.

"My husband found me slumped over. I don't remember much else. They rang the ambos and called Careflight."

Ms Metzroth's husband Daniel said the chopper arrived within 40 minutes of the call.

"She was airlifted to the Toowoomba Hospital and in and out of consciousness the whole flight."

"She had two dislocated shoulders and spent the night in hospital."

Fully recovered from her accident in June, the former patient was grateful to her rescuers and excited by the opportunity to show her thanks publicly.

"You never know when you, or your friends and family are going to need them," she said.

"A family day turned bad very quickly."

CareFlight senior flight paramedic Brad Solomon said meeting former patients who came to see and thank them personally was one of the best parts about his job.

"Not that we're in it for that," he said.

Guests from the Toowomba Regional Council, Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Industry and local business owners were among those who attended the breakfast.
