Mum appears in court on charge of stealing her own child

A WOMAN appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with child stealing.

She allegedly took her child during a meeting with the Department of Child Safety, which is caring for the eight-month-old.

Police located her and the child in New South Wales on January 6.

An application for bail made on her behalf was opposed by police.

Magistrate Cameron Press adjourned the matter to Saturday so a representative from the department could be present in court.
