Pisasale on Monday: Much achieved for city
ON BEHALF of all councillors and staff at Ipswich City Council, I would like to wish all residents a very merry Christmas.
Reflecting on all the great things we have achieved for Ipswich this year, I would like to thank everyone for allowing me to be part of team Ipswich. Christmas is a time of giving, caring and cherishing what we have. I am looking forward to a tremendous 2015 and continuing Ipswich's exciting journey together.
A reminder that council will be closed over the Christmas break but the main number 3810 6666 will be operating around the clock for emergencies. Don't forget Ipswich Waste Service garbage trucks will still be operating, so if your bin is usually emptied on Thursday or Friday, don't forget to put it out for collection this week.
I hope everyone had a great time at the Robelle Domain Carols on Saturday night. The skies were clear for a fun evening second time round.
Last week we announced a new law and order strategy for the Ipswich City Centre to help create a better city and encourage a safe environment. Already police have increased patrols in the area and council is better enforcing its no smoking ban. Special thanks to Ipswich District Officer Superintendent Mark Kelly and local officers for their tremendous support.
Thank you to everyone who attended the special service in d'Arcy Doyle Place last week to offer prayers and condolences to the victims of the Sydney siege. Cityhope Church Senior Minister Mark Edwards led the prayer, and residents have left flowers and messages under the shade sails. In times like this, it is important to remember the community spirit, love and compassion that unite us all.
Thanks to the team at The Medical Quarter for inviting me to officially open the new medical centre at 19 Thorn St. The official opening was for stage 1 of the new medical centre, with stage 2 currently under construction next door.
