Motorway upgrade on track

THE IPSWICH Motorway upgrade between Dinmore and Goodna is on track to be completed by the end of 2012 despite the recent floods.

Work on the $1.95 billion dollar upgrade is set to continue next week and be “finished by the end of next year as originally scheduled”, a Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said.

Traffic changes will be in place between Gailes and Redbank for Ipswich bound motorists to support a traffic switch at Mine Street and to safely install an overhead gantry at Redbank.

Traffic on the Ipswich Motorway and the Logan Motorway (Ipswich bound) will be diverted temporarily along Brisbane Road between Gailes and Goodna onto Smiths Road and back onto the motorway at Mine Street, Redbank during the following times: Monday, March 7 and Tuesday, March 8 from 11.30pm to 4.30am.

In case of poor weather those times will change to Tuesday, March 7 and Wednesday, March 8 from 11.30pm to 4.30am.

Heavy vehicles will be directed to use the Centenary Highway.
