Motorist killed in severe storm

A MOTORIST has died after a tree fell on a car in Brisbane's south as thunderstoms continue to cause traffic chaos throughout the city.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the motorist died in a car on Johnson Road, Hillcrest, when a tree fell on the car, parked on the side of the road, at about 3.15pm.

The accident happened near the Paradise Road intersection.

Hail and wet weather has also been blamed for three accidents on the Logan Motorway which has blocked the road westbound. According to the Australian Traffic Network, four trucks and three cars were involved in multi-vehicle pile-ups, with traffic diverted along Loganlea Road.

Police said a truck jack-knifed on the road at Kingston about 4.10pm.
