Mother and child escape burning car near Dalby

A MOTHER and her child escaped a burning car west of Dalby this morning.
A BMW X5 caught fire on the Bunya Hwy, about 20 km west of Dalby, at 10am.
Flames spread to the surrounding grass, but fire crews extinguished the blaze before it could reach an adjoining sorghum farm, Lucerne Park.
Lucerne Park owner Andrew Hoefler said he was travelling to Dalby when a neighbour called him back.
"We were worried about our tractor and sorghum," he said.
"It was a lot of smoke when we got out here. We didn't see any flames."
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
