Minister Mark McArdle diagnosed with prostate cancer
QUEENSLAND'S Energy and Water Supply Minister has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will take time off for treatment.
Minister Mark McArdle issued a short statement on Thursday night revealing he would step aside from his role for six weeks to undergo cancer treatment.
"Earlier this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I now need to undergo medical treatment and I have been assured I will make a full recovery," the Caloundra MP stated.
"My wife Judy and I are very pleased with the treatment plan and the care I have received to date.
"I am extremely thankful for the support from all of my colleagues during the past few months and I look forward to continuing the reform work in my portfolio upon my return."
Mines and Natural Resources Minister Andrew Cripps will take on Mr McArdle's portfolio until he returns.
