VIDEO: Can you watch it without crying?
A SHORT film that has made grown men cry and racked up more than a million views on YouTube was made by a Maryborough teenager.
The video was created by Year 12 Riverside Christian College student Luci Allanson for a school project and tells the heart-warming story of pet ownership - from the first moment of bringing home a puppy to the final sad goodbye.
Luci was inspired to create the film - which stars two of her own dogs - because her mum works at the council pound and has shared many tragic stories of dogs being unwanted and abandoned by their owners.
When Luci first uploaded the video, titled If Only I Could Speak, in August, it received about 1000 views and Luci got plenty of positive feedback from family, friends and the community.
But when a friend uploaded a link of the video to online forum Reddit, it started going viral and overnight it reached more than 100,000 views.
The video was then shared by an online reviewer and before Luci knew it, her video had a million views.
"I didn't really expect that," she said.
The figure is still climbing.
Unsurprisingly, Luci got an A for her effort and her teacher Matt White said he was very proud of what she had accomplished.
"Everyone's stoked," he said.
Mr White said when he watched the video, he got a bit teary-eyed himself.
"Anyone who is a pet owner will connect," he said.
Luci is thrilled so many people have watched her video, but she did have some advice for those yet to see it.
"I'd advise you not to watch it in an open area," she said, advising people to go to their room in case they needed to cry.
The future is looking bright for Luci, who intends to apply for university and study film and television.
