Weyman out for the season

ST George Illawarra's woes continued yesterday when prop Michael Weyman was ruled out for the season after he underwent ACL knee reconstruction surgery.

The NSW and Australian representative suffered the injury in the Dragons' 13-12 loss to Penrith at Centrebet Stadium on Monday night.

Dragons physiotherapists confirmed Weyman's rehabilitation will extend into the 2013 pre-season.

"Because of all the other damage he's got in his knee we had to rule out the option of a LARS ACL reconstruction," performance director Andrew Gray said.

Weyman was understandably left shattered at the news.

"It's disappointing but that's part of life and football in general so I can only move forward and start the recovery process," he said.

Dynamic Dragons utility Nathan Fien also suffered a knee injury in the same game but will not need surgery and should be back training with the first grade squad in three weeks.
