TOOGOOLAWAH'S population more than doubled on Saturday as the much-anticipated show drew people from near and far with delightful attractions.

Tammy Lukritz and her family made a 670km pilgrimage from Yeppoon for a family tradition.

"My husband's parents live in Toogoolawah so every five years or so we come back for the show," she said. "The kids enjoyed the horses, seeing the animals. And the fireworks were good at the end as well. We stayed all day."

Show society Treasurer Tony Gault said the highlights were the weather and the prime cattle.

"We haven't got the final figures yet but approximately 2500 people attended on Saturday," he said.

"It's an excellent crowd, considering the township only has a population of 1000."
