Clare McMeniman’s glad to be part of Diamonds’ glory

IT MAY have been Australia's 19th consecutive win, but the 54-47 victory against England in Canberra was especially sweet for Queensland defender Clare McMeniman.

The 29-year-old had long dreamed of the day she would represent the Diamonds for the first time, and it came when she replaced Julie Corletto at goal defence for the second half, becoming the 163rd to done the green and gold bib.

"I felt composed on the inside. I've been preparing for this for a long time and I feel like I fit into this group," McMeniman said.

"But I did need a bit of a rocket at the start to be myself and make sure I was doing my role and playing my game.

"I savoured all 30 minutes (of court time). It was great."

Wing attack Madi Robinson (pictured) capped an outstanding campaign by winning her third player of the match award from the past six games.
