Mayoral honour for Laidley florist

LAIDLEY Florist and Rustique Rose Tearooms owner Rachel Waterhouse has taken out the prestigious Mayor's Award at this year's Lockyer Valley Business, Training and Apprenticeship Awards.

Rachel said she opened her florist shop in 2007 and has been involved in the 1ocal tourism scene ever since.

"Following the devastation caused by last year's floods, I managed to open again and was able to include the tearooms within the premises," she said.

"Although I'm extremely pleased to have won this award, I was surprised and shocked when my name was read out. Of course, I want to thank all those people who voted for me and for those who have maintained their faith in me following the January 2011 floods."
