Man touches 25,000 volt power lines

A 30-YEAR-OLD surveyor should be thanking his lucky stars after a metal pole he was carrying touched 25,000 volt power lines.

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokesman said the man was surveying on the corner of Weedman and River rds at Redbank today.

About 3pm he walked under power lines on the northern side of the nearby rail lines and a pole he was carrying touched the overhead high voltage lines.

The spokesman said the man suffered minor burns to his hands and legs and he was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital in a stable condition.

"He's a very, very lucky boy," the spokesman said.

Police were called in to conduct traffic control around the scene while the man was being treated by paramedics.
The Department of Workplace Health and Safety is expected to investigate the incident.
