Man still missing after river swim

THE search is still on for an Ipswich man who went missing after jumping into the Brisbane River on Monday.

Police and State Emergency Service personnel are searching the river and river banks, as well as door knocking residents in the Sherwood area - where the man was last seen.

Police said the 20-year-old was fishing near the Sherwood reach of the river around 11.20am when he went for a swim and was unable to return to shore due to strong current.

The man is described as having short dark brown hair, wearing a black KORN t-shirt, denim shorts and a studded belt.
