Man stabbed during row
A BOOVAL man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife.
Police said the 26-year-old was drinking and watching TV with another man, at a unit in Railway St, when an argument broke out.
The offender used a large kitchen knife to stab the man once in the chest, puncturing his lung and nicking an artery.
Paramedics were called to the unit just before 11.45pm.
They treated the man at the scene before rushing him to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.
His condition stabilised overnight and police were able to interview him yesterday morning.
Ipswich criminal investigation branch Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Gary Dixon said police were making efforts to speak to the other man who they believe was at the Booval residence on Wednesday night.
Snr Sgt Dixon said the two men were known to each other as associates.
The man had left the residence by the time emergency services arrived and could not be located yesterday. Police did not provide a description of the man they were looking for.
Officers kept guard at the scene of the stabbing throughout the day yesterday. Investigations were continuing and police have appealed for public assistance to locate the alleged offender.
Anyone with information that could assist police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
