Man seriously injured after being struck by rogue 4WD

A MAN has been struck by a four-wheel drive near the ferry terminal on Lamb Island, requiring the urgent airlift by an RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

The man, aged in his 60s, sustained a serious leg injury in the accident.

The Gold Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked at 1pm, landing at the Lamb Island helipad within 20 minutes.

The patient was transported to the helicopter by the Queensland Ambulance Service.

He was then flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition.

One in five RACQ CareFlight Rescue missions are to treat and airlift seriously injured people who require immediate specialist care.
