Boat tragedy victim named after body recovered

THE 42-year-old man who died after a boat he was in hit rocks on the southern end of Teague Island has been named.

Volunteer Marine Rescue recovered the body of Troy Mackay at 8.30am Wednesday; two hours after a 26-year-old Cannonvale man and a 27-year-old Capella man were plucked from the water.

All three men were in the boat when it hit the rocks and capsized about 2am.

The family ask that their privacy be respected at this time.

"We would like to thank all the people who were involved in the search," a family friend said.

The two men who were rescued from the water were still being treated in Mackay Base Hospital at the time of print.

The 26-year-old man and the 27-year-old man were in a stable condition. The pair was rescued and transported to Hamilton Island.

They alerted the authorities that a third man was missing and a search and rescue mission was launched.
