Man injured by pipe bomb

A MAN is recovering in hospital after being injured by a home-made pipe bomb.

The 44-year-old was at a residence on Snelling Road at Helidon Spa, west of Gatton, when the bomb exploded about 6pm Sunday.

Police said the man sustained significant injuries to his stomach area and required surgery at Toowoomba Base Hospital.

He was expected to recover from the injuries.

Police are investigating.
