Man fined for riding unregistered bike

A MAN who rode an unregistered motorbike on a footpath without a licence or helmet didn't know it was an offence to do so, an Ipswich court heard.

Stephen James Swift, 28, was seen riding a Kawasaki KX100 trail bike along the footpath on Alice St, Camira on October 7.

Police followed him and pulled him over.  He produced a provisional licence that didn't entitle him to drive a motorbike of that power.

Swift pleaded guilty to driving without a licence being a repeat offender, unregistered and uninsured.

Magistrate Virginia Sturgess noted Swift had "quite a lengthy traffic history with this combination of offences before".

Swift was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for one month.
