Man fined for growing marijuana

A MAN caught growing his own marijuana plants has been fined.

Police searched Lewis James Hare’s Basin Pocket property on May 7 to discover three 40 to 50cm cannabis plants growing under the house.

Hare, 18, told police he had been tending to the plants which were for his own personal use.

The roof tiler, who had no prior similar history, pleaded guilty in Ipswich Magistrates Court to producing dangerous drugs and was fined $300 with no conviction recorded.
