Man charged over brutal Glenvale bashing

A MAN will face court today over the brutal bashing of a woman at her suburban home at the weekend.

Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch detectives arrested and charged the 33-year-old less than 24-hours after he stormed his alleged victim's home, punching her in the face with such force she remained in hospital over the weekend.

Police will allege the man was known to the 35-year-old woman when he entered her house shortly before 5am Saturday.   Neighbours called police after reportedly hearing the woman's screams for help.

On arrival police will allege they found the woman with facial injuries inside the Glenvale home while the man had fled the area.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene for serious injuries to her face before she was transported to Toowoomba Hospital.

Police scoured the city for the man they believed was behind the attack, locating him in the Toowoomba city area about 4am yesterday.

He was arrested and charged with a number of offences including enter dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence, grievous bodily harm and wilful damage.

The man was kept in police custody since his arrest and is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

Detectives continue to appeal for any witnesses to the incident to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
