Man charged over abduction

AN IPSWICH man charged with stalking, abducting, torturing and attempting to murder a woman at Flinders View has been committed to stand trial at the Supreme Court in Brisbane.

Russell Alfred Richardson, 52, was charged with seven offences following the alleged abduction of a woman he knew from a Morris St address on January 4.

Police allege the woman was dragged into the vehicle but managed to escape.

Richardson has been charged with attempted murder, torture, deprivation of liberty, stalking, assault occasioning bodily harm, entering a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence and unlawfully using a motor vehicle to attempt to commit murder.

The Department of Public Prosecutions today formally tendered a witness and exhibit list at Ipswich Magistrates Court.

Richardson, who remains in custody and appeared wearing a suit, did not enter a plea and his case will next be mentioned on a date to be fixed.
