Man charged with multiple offences

POLICE have charged a 22-year-old man with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected, driving under the influence of liquor, bribery and obstructing police after an incident in Goodna overnight.

Around 12.30am police were conducting mobile patrols on Alice Street when they allegedly observed a vehicle travelling on the incorrect side of the road.

The officers and another vehicle had to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

Police intercepted the vehicle on Bertha Street and performed a road side breath test on the driver.

The driver allegedly locked his car doors and refused to exit the vehicle when he was told to accompany the officers to the station for a further test.

The man was removed from his vehicle after a passenger unlocked the door.

He was taken to Springfield Police Station where he recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.203.

The man allegedly offered the officers an incentive to not be charged.

The Currimundi man is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning.
