Man charged for biting officer

POLICE have charged a 35-year-old Southport man with serious assault of police after he allegedly bit an officer on the forearm when police responded to a single vehicle crash at Kalbar last night.

Police attended the scene of the crash on Kalbar Connection Road about 7.30pm.

The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle allegedly became violent and aggressive toward police, repeatedly striking out at officers.

A taser was used and the man was restrained without further incident.

He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today charged with serious assault of police, assaulting police and two counts of obstructing police, as well as entering premises and committing an indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of implements and possession of stolen property, and two counts of receiving stolen property.
