Man arrested after half-hour siege

 

POLICE have arrested a man allegedly armed with a sawn-off shotgun following a siege at Redbank Plains.

Seven Ipswich police crews surrounded a residence on Berrigan Street from 2.30pm, following reports a man in the area was armed.

About 30 minutes later police pounced on a black Mazda sedan which was seen speeding along the street.

The driver was surrounded by about 14 officers with guns and tasers drawn and the man was handcuffed and taken to a car.

Police are still investigating the incident.
