Man allegedly stole car with dogs still inside

A MAN has been hospitalised, two have been charged and a dog is still missing after a series of crimes over the past few days.

Police say a man entered one property on Thursday just after 4pm and stole a Nissan ute parked in the carport there.

He then allegedly crashed into a ditch nearby where he was confronted by the ute's owner.

A scuffle ensued where the 40-year-old owner suffered cuts to his arms and chests from what was believed to be a knife.

The 40-year-old was taken to the Princess Alexandria Hospital for treatment.

The thief is then said to have gone to a service station on Teviot Road in Greenbank where he go into a blue Toyota Land Cruiser (registration 057 LQA) with two dogs inside.

The owner has then tried to stop him from driving away but fell over in the attempt.

The Toyota's owner sustained cuts and required stitches in his right hand.

On Friday afternoon police recovered the Land Cruiser at Regents Park but were forced to smash a window to rescue one of the dogs. The other dog is still missing.

Two men were arrested at Landsborough yesterday.

The 21-year-old man was charged with one count each of armed robbery, wounding, possessing a knife, animal cruelty, unlicenced driving, possessing dangerous drugs and failing to take reasonable care with a syringe.  The man was also charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 27-year-old Mudgeeraba man was yesterday charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle which relates to this incident.

Both men are due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday December 12
