Man accused of defrauding council in flood recovery

A MAN has been charged for defrauding Lockyer Valley Regional Council of more than $30,000 during their 2011 flood recovery work.

Paul Joseph Morrison, 44, did not appear in Ipswich District Court this morning but his defence lawyer made an application for an adjournment.

The Coomera man is charged with one count of fraud over the value of $30,000 and eight counts of making false declarations.

His defence lawyer said Morrison was accused to have been "overpaid by the council in clean up after floods".

Morrison's bail was enlarged and the matter adjourned to January.
