Man, 39, allegedly assaulted by younger man on Cavill Ave

POLICE have charged a 20-year-old man after an alleged assault on another man outside a Cavill Avenue fast food outlet in Surfers Paradise early this morning.

It will be alleged that around 5am a man struck a 39-year-old man in the face causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement.

The 39-year-old man was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital, with lacerations to the back of his head. After medical assessment he was released a short time after.

The 20-year-old West Burleigh man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court at a later date.
