Major revamp for Hayman Island

HAYMAN Island Resort is set to undergo a major refit under the new management of Kerzner International Holdings Limited.

Kerzner is a developer and operator of destination resorts, casinos and One&Only luxury resorts.

Despite rumours and national news reports that the island had been sold, owners Mulpha Australia have confirmed they will retain full ownership.

In a statement issued yesterday, Mulpha Australia detailed the agreement with Kerzner to assume management.

Hayman will undergo a multi-million dollar renovation. It will be closed from January 15 until April 1 next year and will be re-opened as One&Only Hayman Island.

The resort will be One&Only's first resort in Australia.

Mulpha Australia's executive chairman Seng Huang Lee said Kerzner was the perfect partner to herald in a new era for the resort under the One&Only brand.

"The transformational refurbishment combined with One&Only's innovation and commitment to delivering an extraordinary level of service will redefine resort luxury in Australia," he said.

Showcasing the natural elements of the iconic location, One&Only will present a number of unique guest experiences, enhanced accommodations, new culinary options and signature One&Only service throughout the resort.

DBI Design, in partnership with the Kerzner International Development Team, has been engaged for the interior design and landscape architecture for the resort's rebirth.

Kerzner International CEO Alan Leibman said he was personally committed to making One&Only Hayman Island "a 'must stay' for the well-travelled to explore the wonders of this magnificent destination".
