Major Freemasons award for 60 years of service

THE Freemasons of the district have been quietly working for this community for more than 150 years.

Men such as Allan Johnson and Jim Batterby both dedicated more than 60 years of their life to the United Tradesmen's Lodge No12, Ipswich.

In recognition of their commitment they were recently recognised with one of the highest awards in the Freemason fellowship.

The Almoner Jewel to Right Worshipful Brother was presented to the two men.

Allan Johnson served as The Lodge Almoner (office of Charity) for 60 years, while Jim Batterby, held many positions over his 60 years plus including the Director of Ceremonies for 30 years.
