Magpies ready to swoop to surprise Norths Devils

A GRADE hockey fixtures hit off this afternoon with Wests taking on Norths.

Wests will be full of confidence after last weekend's upset win over premiers Easts.

Some within the Magpie camp say the team runs a lot smoother with one person leading them around. Time will tell if the Magpies can progress come September.

Wests are tipped to win 3-2 in a nail-biter.

Easts will be looking to come out firing against Hancocks tomorrow after last week's shock loss and surrendering first spot on the ladder.

Easts will welcome back Nathan "sharknado" Smith after he was away for under-18s last weekend.

His combination with striker Tim Woodford up front will be the difference between the two sides.

Easts are tipped to win 5-3.

In women's fixtures, Bellbowrie will come up against Thistles today.

With both sides steadily improving this season, the youthful Bellbowrie outfit will band together and slog out a 1-0 win.

Tomorrow, Norths will come up against Swifts.

Norths are a lot better unit this season but Swifts stalwarts like Anne-Marie Callow will have a field day up front, running away 5-1 winners.

Hancocks take on Wests in the other game and this is one everyone should watch.

Both sides are fielding quality players and there has been no love lost between the two clubs.

Amy Korner is a vital member of the Wests unit. If she plays and has her game face on, look for her to spark an upset 4-3 victory.
