"BUT you won't give me my rights? Thanks for nothing."

Magda Szubanski and Nationals senator Fiona Nash have clashed over the same-sex marriage plebiscite on Q&A.

Szubanski, who identifies as gay, put this hypothetical to Nash on Monday night's program: "If I was your daughter, and being gay, would you think that I should have the right to be married?"

Nash responded saying her view is still the traditional view of marriage.

"I completely respect your view and your desire to see that as equality..."

"But you won't give me my rights," Szubanski interrupts. "Thanks for nothing."

Nash continues saying: "No, I think the really important thing in this debate is there isn't right and wrong."
