Lunatic football fans need to curb behaviour

EARLIER this A League season, we had irate fans walking out and boycotting games due to the sanctions handed out to banned fans.

Well haven't some fans showed that the FFA were correct in imposing bans.

We have lunatics taking flares to games, which serves no purpose at all.

It's dangerous and can cause harm so they are advised to stop their actions or watch three points deducted from their team's total.

I hope it never gets to this but these people are not the smartest.

Brisbane Roar fans are the best in the league and should be a blueprint for other fans to follow on how you can cheer your team on without behaving like caged animals.

Hopefully we see no more flares for the remainder of the season and the only action reported is on the field.

AFL in spotlight

NATIONAL Rugby League trials have begun so it's now the AFL's turn to show their fans some action with the start of the NAB Challenge.

It started last night with premiers Hawthorn battling wooden spooners Carlton.

Tonight features the clash between two genuine title contenders in Fremantle and Richmond.

Over the weekend, St Kilda play North Melbourne (tomorrow), Adelaide play West Coast and there's a home clash at Moreton Bay between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

While most teams will not be fielding their strongest teams in the pre-season it will give the future stars of the game a time to shine on the big stage.

Who am I

I WAS born on the February 29, 1948. The club I played for was a United one. I went on to represent Australia at the 1994 Commonwealth Games where with my three fellow players we played seven games, resulting in two wins and one draw.

I am the 49th player to represent my country in my chosen sport.

Last week's answer was big man wrestler Dru Schaffer.

Quick thoughts

BOMBER'S beef 1: When are bosses of clubs going to come straight out and condemn players behaving badly.

Bomber's beef 2: The bowlers are put under more scrutiny these days when they overstep the mark and claim a wicket. How about some balance and rules to even it up when they are no-balled and claim a wicket. It's only a replay away.

Bomber's bouquet 1: The Slam Dunk Competition saw two players in their prime with spectacular dunk after spectacular dunk. It was special to watch.

Bomber's best: I hope you all backed the Aussies as they tore the Kiwis apart. This week's tip is Doomben race 3, number 5 La Spiaggia.
