Lucky lotto winner picks up $1 million jackpot

A RETIRED Fernvale man can now call himself a millionaire after winning division one in Wednesday night's Gold Lotto draw.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was surprisingly calm when he was told by a Golden Casket official that he'd won first division and other divisional prizes totalling $1,002,799.60!

"Well that's a bit of loose change," the winner joked.

"I won't change now that I've won Gold Lotto.  As the ol' saying goes, I'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

"I'm not going to worry about what I'll do with my prize money just yet.  What I can say is that family does come first and I'll be sharing this prize money with them."

The first division winning System 7 marked entry was purchased from Nextra Fernvale, Shop B1, 1455 Brisbane Valley Highway in Fernvale.

Aaron Kugel from Nextra Fernvale was delighted to discover the outlet had sold another division one winning entry.

"What fantastic news," Mr Kugal exclaimed.

"This is the third time now that we've sold a division one winning entry worth at least $1 million.  We had a $1.4 million Saturday Gold Lotto win in January 2014 and one of our customers won $1.3 million in October 2012.

"We'd like to wish our millionaire customer all the best in the future."

Throughout Australia, it was the only entry that won first division in Wednesday Gold Lotto, which offers a guaranteed $1 million division one prize for up to four winners in every draw.

The winning numbers in Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3533 on Wednesday 24 February 2016 were 44, 12, 2, 39, 17 and 27 with the supplementary numbers of 45 and 33.
