Lowood gathering to unite victims

THE Lowood community and surrounding districts will come together tonight to bring hope to flood victims.

The event, A Boost of Hope, has been organised by Somerset Regional Council, the region’s Christian churches and Lowood State High School.

Somerset Regional Council mayoress Judy Lehmann said the event was a time of reflection and prayer, in the aftermath of the floods.

“What happened in the area was horrendous so together, as a community, we thought it would be valuable to have an evening for people to come together and discuss what has happened, openly,” Mrs Lehmann said.

The event will be held at the Lowood High School Hall, Prospect Street, from 6.30pm.

Mrs Lehmann said the event was open to evacuees, emergency workers and anyone in the community.

“It’s a chance to debrief with others in the community and reflect on what has happened and how we can move forward and support one another,” she said.

“The Lowood and surrounding communities were greatly affected by what happened and we need to be able to support one another.”
