LNP faces defeat as Thorley threatens major upset
BREAKING: Political polling has revealed Di Thorley is on track to wrestle victory from the LNP in Toowoomba South, making it a marginal seat for the first time in 42 years.
Quoting unnamed party sources, The Australian this morning reports Ms Thorley is "neck and neck" with the LNP's David Janetzki for the hotly contested seat.
Mrs Thorley's win would increase the number of crossbenchers in Queensland Parliament, stripping the LNP of one of its 42 seats - the same number held by Labor's minority government.
She would join three other independents and two Katter's Australian Party members, making Toowoomba South a marginal seat for the first time in more than 40 years.
Do you think Di Thorley will win Toowoomba South?
This poll ended on 15 July 2016.
This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.
Toowoomba South has been a conservative seat since John Warner, for the Country party, won out over Labor's Peter Wood in 1974.
Despite the polling results, the LNP reportedly remains hopeful of retaining the seat.
Mrs Thorley's surge in the polls follows the federal election result which saw a rise in independent and minor parties win out over the ALP and Coalition.
