Little kindy celebrates 35 big years

THIRTY-five years may have passed but some things never change at the Jacaranda Street Community Pre-School and Kindergarten.

After starting out as a church playgroup, the kindy still operates out of the former church hall it was founded in.

It celebrated its 35th anniversary yesterday, with people from the kindy's history making their way to the North Booval site.

It wasn't just for people who used to attend the kindy. There was entertainment for everyone with a jumping castle and face painting for kids.

To celebrate the anniversary, the kindy put class photos and excursion pictures from the last three decades on display.

Kindergarten vice-president Melanie Kamoto said the day was a huge success.

"It's amazing how one little kindy can have touched so many lives," she said.

"It's been a huge, massive success. We had a lot of past secretaries, presidents and staff come through as well as people who went to the kindy."

Ms Kamoto said the community-minded nature of the not-for-profit kindergarten was on show.
