Line-up as impressive as wave

SOUNDWAVE kicked off last weekend at Brisbane's RNA showgrounds and this year’s line-up was bigger, louder, and more famous than any so far.

With Iron Maiden headlining the event, and bands including Bring Me The Horizon, Slayer, 30 Seconds To Mars, and Queens Of The Stone Age on the line-up, it was always going to be a big show.

As expected the 40,000 strong crowd were overwhelming. Getting in to the heavy metal festival was a big problem with some waiting hours in queues to get inside.

This year’s festival fixed many of the problems from previous events, such as water, and timetable issues.

Both 30 Seconds to Mars and Bless the Fall stole the show with great live sets and an amazing stage presence.

30 Seconds to Mars who are particularly renowned for their epic stage shows did not disappoint.

Bring Me the Horizon was among the top acts, showcasing songs from their latest release There Is A Hell Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven Let's Keep It A Secret, which landed at number one on the ARIA chart upon its release last year.

Iron Maiden shredded a full two hour set and attracted an immense crowd despite their exhaustion from the rest of the day.

With so many bands playing it is impossible to see them all, but the Soundwave Festival 2011 will be tough to beat.

The Melbourne leg kicks off today where they can expect to see Australia’s greatest heavy music festival, in its finest form.
