ALIEN researcher Mary Rodwell says the lights seen over Gladstone and Tannum Sands on Saturday night are "certainly something anomalous".

Ms Rodwell, of Agnes Water, counsels people on unexplained sightings, and devotes her time to studying extra terrestrial phenomena.

"The interesting thing is quite a few people around Gladstone have seen things," she said.

"Bundaberg is a bit of a hotspot too, and here in Agnes Water people have seen things too.

"A guy used to visit Agnes Water from 30 years ago, and even then his uncle and aunt called the area a UFO highway.

"People out fishing have seen strange lights. I think we live in an interesting spot."

Ms Rodwell said when some people saw things, it could mean there was something else unexplained going on.

"Sightings seem to be tied in with people who have other things going on," she said.

"When talking about sightings I usually get a bit of history - the shape of the object, what it was doing, how long it was seen for, how many people saw it. I try to get a bit of a picture. And whether they have seen anything like that before.

"One thing that is very interesting in the UFO scene is that the object's movements aren't like a satellite or a star.

"With all the footage being gathered around the world, even if you discount all the general things sightings could be, there are still some questions. It's about honest, questioning people."
